Building Pages Using Templates

Building pages using templates is very easy. First, you need to select the pages you would like to have on your site. You do this when you choose your menu options. If you have not yet selected the options, please refer to Building the Navigation Menu.

Once you have your navigation menu, please click on the "update pages" icon (shown below by arrow 1 in picture 1), which is located in the navigation bar of the Management Console, in between the "secure server" icon and the "make payment" icon. You can also click on the "Update / Modify Pages" link shown by arrow 2, picture 1. You will be taken to the Page Builder page where you will see a list of links (i.e. Choose Page Template, Choose Side or Top Menu Options, etc.), and below the links will be a drop down menu that says Home Page (shown by arrow 3). Click on the drop down menu and select the page you would like to edit. In our example (picture 2) we have: Home Page, e-mail, contact, store policy, and menu. Once you select the page, click "Continue."

Clicking on the Continue button will take you to a new page. The page will be different depending on the page you chose to build. For example, if you are building the Home Page or a Services page, you will see a page listing a variety of different templates (picture 3). If you are building the Contact page, you will see a page where you can fill in contact information (picture 4).

In regard to the template options, Look through the layouts and decide which template is best for you. You might want to try several different templates and see which looks best. If you choose to play around with the templates, make sure you save your text in another file (such as Notepad, WordPad, or Microsoft Word) because when you change the template, the system erases your current information. By saving the text in another file, it saves you the trouble of having to retype everything.

To select the template, you need to click in the little circle next to the template, as shown in picture 3. For our example, we are picking Template Option #1. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Continue" (right below the HTML Code Option, see picture 3).

In regard to the Contact Page, and pages similar to it, all you need to do is click in the text box (shown by the arrows) and type. Fill in the information you believe is necessary. In the contact page, and in the template options, you see that you can use HTML code. If you are not sure what this is, please feel free to look over Using HTML Coding in the help section. Another feature on the Contact Page is the map function. If you would like your customer to be able to get directions to your location, simply check the box next to: Include Form to Yahoo Map and Directions. Once you filled out what you need, please scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Submit." When you submit the page, you will be returned to the Page Builder page (i.e. picture 2).

Getting back to the templates... When you click on Continue, the system sends you to a page similar to the one below:

Key for Arrow Numbers

1) Text Box

2) Delete / Upload Image links

3) Image Box (same as the Image Box above arrow 2, except this one has a picture in it)

4) Update Page Button

5) Reload Page Button

You can begin by either uploading the images or by typing in the text. For our purposes, lets begin by typing in the text. To type in the text, simply click inside the "Text Box" (arrow 1). You can see we typed: Hello! Welcome to the home of the.....Once you have what you want, make sure you re-read and spell check!

Next, you can upload an image (remember, this is Template Option #1, every template is different, so yours might not look exactly like ours). To upload an image, simply click on the "Upload" link right below the image (arrow 2).

When you click on Upload, you will have another window open that looks like the window below:

You will click on "Browse" and another window will pop up that is associated with your computer system. You will need to locate the picture in your computer that you would like placed in that spot and select it. Once you select the picture, you will need to click on "UPLOAD LOGO." Once you click on UPLOAD LOGO, the above window will disappear.

To see your new picture on the page, simply click on "RELOAD" (arrow 5). In our example, arrow 3 shows a picture we uploaded.

When you are finished typing in your text and uploading your pictures, click on "Update Page" (arrow 4) to update the page. When you click on "Update Page," the template page will disappear and you will be sent back to the Page Builder page that is shown in picture 2 at the top of this help page.

To see your new page, simply go to your website at yourdomain.com and click on the menu option for the page you built. We recommend that you open another browser window or you can use the one you already have open.
